SMART GOALS AND TARGETS

Once you have planned your project, turn your attention to developing several goals that will enable you to be successful. Goals should be SMART - specific, measurable, agreed upon, realistic and time-based.

A goal might be to hold a weekly project meeting with the key members of your team or to organise and run a continuous test programme throughout the project.
The acronym SMART has a number of slightly different variations, which can be used to provide a more comprehensive definition for goal setting:
S - specific, significant, stretching
M - measurable, meaningful, motivational
A - agreed upon, attainable, achievable, acceptable, action-oriented
R - realistic, relevant, reasonable, rewarding, results-oriented
T - time-based, time-bound, timely, tangible, trackable
This provides a broader definition that will help you to be successful in both your business and personal life.

Original picture taken from LOOK fashion magazine. I personally loved the whole outfit and thought it would be quite intresting to draw a picture including lines (like her shirt).

Second attempt at a picture from the same magazine as above. Happy with the hair though I think the sunglasses needs work though.

Vortisum Edward Wadsworth

My idea for my vortsisum piece came from a picture done by Edwards Wadsworth.This piece was very exciting to me as the closer you look the more you can see(e.g people and stairs). I am hoping to use this idea in my final piece .
As I have been doing some land based research around the college (especially in the engineering). While I was there I saw a range of different machines and cogs that were connected to machines.This has given me the idea to construct a vortsist body out of machine parts(and possibly people at work on the machines). This would symbolise that the human body is like a massive man made machine.
I shall be devolping my idea further but I am very happy with my conclusion so
far.

Machine parts example

My idea:

This is my final idea. I will be making a copy of this and deciding what shall be the back ground picture ( I will research machine and mechanical ESC colours )

I will either stencil the design or paint the picture a colour.

futurism (model work)

My idea for my model work is to use the ideas of Futrism to make a 3D model. I shall combine shapes (waves)  to build up a image(which is one of my images that was drawn on Tuesday. I use the shapes to make simple parts of the body obvious like the hips.

I will be using this picture as a example 

I will be making this into a 3D model afterwards. I will consider using card and paper. 

I used this picture for my model of the body,this is the model so far:

If you look closely you can see the begging of the rib cage.

Next I plan to paint some of the pieces,this will be done so the darker and lighter parts of the body are more obvious.

life drawing continued

Updated drawings. I researched how to draw hands (mainly by looking in magazines like OK and other life style).I also studied breast shapes as I found my drawing before to be quite oddly shapped. 

The first drawing at the top went well and I really like the shape of the back and how I had started to shade certain features. Although it does appear to be a little long I shall have to try drawing backs in my spare time. 

The second drawing has both the same positives and negatives as the last one.

First time using tablet on a real model. First two pictures need major improvements specially the chin and hands. I will be doing some research on these two things that I struggling. I am impressed though with the body proportions though as I usually struggle with them. 

Futurism and vortitsum

What is futurism?
Futurism iswas an artistic and social movement that originated in Italy in the early 20th century. It emphasized and glorified themes associated with contemporary concepts of the future, including speed, technology, youth and violence, and objects such as the car, the aeroplane and the industrial city. It was largely an Italian phenomenon, though there were parallel movements in Russia, England and elsewhere.

What is vortitsum?

Vorticism was a short-lived modernist movement in British art and poetry of the early 20th century.[1] It was partly inspired by Cubism. The movement was announced in 1914 in the first issue of BLAST, which contained its manifesto and the movement's rejection of landscape and nudes in favour of a geometric style tending towards abstraction. Ultimately, it was their witnessing of unfolding human disaster in World War I that "drained these artists of their Vorticist zeal".Vorticism was based in London but was international in make-up and ambition.

This was my first attempt at drawing a real life model.U found this very intresting and I'm looking forward to doing it again.

My first two attempts were a lot better though I didn't manage to get a picture.

While using A iPad I realised how much fun it really was. All the tools were so much easier to access then in real life. I had a larger range of colours to choose from which felt better. I am definitely going to be using this in the future.

Life drawing (painting with hands)

These were the finished pieces of ny attempt to paint life models by hand.I think in the second picture I made a mistake on the jaw. But otherwise thus style really appealed to me.

We were shown artists work that used methods,  similar to what we did,  Matisse's paintings  were the ones that I took a liking to the most.

 His work looks blended and techtured.

Here we see some of his most famous pieces, above is a portrait called' The Green Line' which was modelled by Mrs.Matisse.

Update of life sketches we did today. I have been able to use the stick and chalk method Al orb better today and have managed to get some contor into the last picture.

Sculpture work continued

Who won the National peace sculpture.

I found these sculpture very intresting and I love the way the full body is shown.

Henry Moore (Sculpture)

best known for his semi-abstract monumental bronze sculptures which are located around the world as public works of art.

His forms are usually abstractions of the human figure, typically depicting mother-and-child or reclining figures. Moore's works are usually suggestive of the female body, apart from a phase in the 1950s when he sculpted family groups. His forms are generally pierced or contain hollow spaces.

When doing my sculpture work I will consider the body shapes and the way he portrays the female body.

Model and sculpture work pt.3

This is one of the guides I used to develop my sculpture. I have decided to switch from my Fruit face idea, to something I could develop. This is still going on the idea that fruit is good for your body . I have decided to decorate the horns with fruit (which I will make out of clay) while the body and face is made out of Mod rock and chicken wire.
I have included in my research some horn texture ideas that I hope will help me in the future.
Plus at the bottom right I have found a skeleton structure that may come in handy.
Here is a basic sketch of my idea:

I have already made the base and my next step is to begin to add detail. I will leave painting the model till the very last as I do not want to ruin it. T
Through out this course I have to remember to wear safety gear (Goggles,gloves,Etc..)
As working with Chicken wire sometimes results in having scratches and nicks.

modeling and sculpting Pt.2

I researched diffrent face shapes for my work
Female:

I liked this picture because of the way it shows the shape of the face through triangles.

With this guide you could easily construct a face.

This guide helps me with both drawing and sculpting.

Also I wanted to find diffrent skin texture e.g older skin with blemishes 

And a younger less blemishes face type

I feel these will help me to get the shape and texture of my work in the future.

life drawing Pt.2

I feel that my newest Real life drawing lacked the detail I usally put in my work.I did not finish the ribcage.One thing I am impressed with is the facial features.
I used slight shading on the back and face.my next target is to try focus on ribcage and try and draw the curves on the bones. A fellow class mate gave me the iidea to draw shapes for the body and the work on the detail.

We were told to grade(so to speak) another person's work. I picked another class mates 

Drawing. I was impressed by the fact she had managed to draw all parts of the body , even the ribcage, which I would like to be able to do myself.
