London tate art gallery (pictures and paintings)

Pre raphlites work
All artwork was scouted out at either the London art gallery or the tate(i massively preferred the london gallery as it featured all the pre-raphlite work i had researched into and most of rosettes work was on show. though, like the manchester gallery, the light shown on the work and made it hard to get a picture that wasn't obstructed by light. being able to see my favourite piece (pictured above) was very exciting specially as id only ever seen it on a computer screen or in books.I found the piece to be a much smaller piece then what images online would lead you to believe but the amount of detail was still impressive. The vibrant colours and hanging follage added to the ambience of the image.
Other xre-raphilite  work that i managed to look at included sketch book drawings done by rosette which

The Gorilla Girls
Another section of the tate also contained work that had been previous reference to my own. This work was namely The Gorilla Girls. Featuring some of their most renown activist pieces .One piece which i took upon myself to read a little closer into was the 'Bus company are more enlightened than NYC artists' a interesting piece that gave the statistics  of how many women where in the bus industry compared to being artist in famous gallery.

references (building ideas)

After having a brainstorm of ideas i wrote down these notes(translated so they could be understood);

  • Space ideas and interpretations
  • journey into space and time, walking space,
  • Emotional space(people going round in loops) Relating to the habits in life that we tend to repeat.people hurting us over and over again.
  • Balance both spiritually and otherwise(looking into balance in life being good or bad)
  • Being a waste of space both physically and mentally.
  • Look into 2D or 3D space(dimensions)Perhaps looking into space between
  • Light in space, sound within space, feeling within space(the senses in other words)
  • Music being in your head or space.
  • Memory/space/emotional
  • Perceptions/how you are feeling and how others see you imagine other people thoughts and what they thought when they saw you.how they felt and if you could feel all these feelings for your self.
  • Fabric space (Thinking of the fact that meters of fabric are between me and my body.
  • People being in a house miles apart from their  and never really speaking too them. But still being close to them.
  • Movement with space(gravity related pulling back to the theme of space )
  • Look at enviroment/buses/doctors and dentist(places which people gather but not just to see each other)
  • Astronomy (more of a obvious idea when talking about space)idea that has been put down but should still be avoided)perhaps drifting towards the idea of black holes and deep dark space pits.
  • directions (compus )given example is what is up and what is down.

personal statement draft 5(font 11)

At North Nottinghamshire college I studied Art and design, In the past focussing deeply into illustrational pottery and dabbled with cross stitching, however I always felt more drawn to illustration as that was where most of my ideas came from. My Artwork is mostly occupied by black and white Noire illustrational style using ink and a mixture of watercolour. I enjoyed using Biro and Ink pens mainly because of the freedom you could have. While developing my style I took heavy influence from artists such as Daviderankore and Tara Booth, which I found while looking for artists who use heavy black and white illustration usually involving the human form. In this course I particular enjoyed contextual studies and through learning about the different art movements I developed a interest in the Pre-Raphlite .Though my extensive research into the Pre-Raphlite era I discovered Antioio Rossetti, whom I loved for his use of lush colours and beautiful body forms. I began to look at the way he portrayed human form, especially the female aspect; this then began to help construct my sketching and placement skills. Research throughout out this time was developed by my love of Playboy and Penthouse vintage magazines dating back from the 60s, which were used for drawings, and sketching references, in many instances I would borrow poses. I enjoy observational sketching whether that is at college or at home. Many of these sketches have influenced my Work helping create polished final pieces. One example was using an image drawn on the train as a FMP piece while incorporating a given theme. I investigated deeper into how the body was perceived and built up my own feelings towards the subject matter. Over the two years that I have been studying life drawing I thoroughly enjoyed drawing the human form. Over the past three-years I have worked at a local gallery working with both children and adults aged 5-80 years old. This work was carried out at my local art gallery alongside a experienced artist who specialised in illustration similar to me, this made working with alongside her more rewarding as I gained more knowledge of the industry that I would have otherwise not achieved from college. At the gallery I would help stock paint supplies, set up workshops in advance by putting out equipment, help students with any artistic problems they may have had including constructing sculptures or making finished pieces, also finishing my own work when I could. I clocked over two hundred hours of work experience while there and felt this was a massive part of my progress and a great chance to have a first hand look at one of the most important roles in the art industry. I worked on a project alongside other students where we were given the task of making vinyl decorations for worksops new bus station. The designs I forwarded were curtail to the development of future work as I had never used Photoshop or illustration prior. This experiment process was lengthy and had been influenced by psychedelic artists like victor Mossoro who’s attention to detail helped to shape my understanding of how black and bold colors could merge in perfect symphony. Another thing to add was 2 years ago I worked on a commission given to me by a former Art therapist whom had whished to have a painting similar to the works of the late Jackson Pollock, After speaking to him about the colours, and the size of the canvas he wanted the finish piece to be on, I began to make experimental pieces using drastic and bold colours to try and simulate the daring pieces Pollock had made before When I had completed the work a week later the work was received and well reclaimed. I would love to be a part of the university life for both the great opportunity’s that can be had and the possibility of being surrounded by other artists and illustrators like myself who want to expand in the art industry, continuing to develop my work and my own approach while still experimenting with materials.

personal statement part 3(trying to keep word count and also line count in check)

Throughout my studies at comprehensive school I soon realised how much I loved illustration and that I desired to peruse it as a career. These desires were then continued when I started a three-year course at North Nottinghamshire College where I studied Art and Design, continuing all the way to foundation level. While doing this course I took on many skills which included: Time management, note taking and working in a team environment to complete a set task or assignment .I believe that all mentioned above are essential in the Art industry. Examples of more important skills of the art industry include using materials such as: Chalk, ink, watercolour, and computer programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. Through learning all of these techniques this has helped to make me versatile in a range of different art mediums. Experimenting with these mediums over time helped me to redefine and adapt my illustrational style and how I could subsume my line work and composition to make a powerful piece. While studying at University my aim is to continue this using my Black and white Noire style.
During the three years of study I took part in high amounts of research into artists and illustrators such as Egon Schiele, John Waterhouse, and also Antonio Rossetti. All of which I took a great deal of inspiration from as I really admired the ethereal quality's of their work and how large, in scale, the paintings actually were. Along side looking into artists I also looked into subject matter that I could study and integrate into my work. This led me to look into the human anatomy, both male and female respectably, I looked deeper into how it was perceived and built up my own feelings towards the subject matter. My love for anatomic illustrations is evident in my many art pieces taken which are all presented in either a natural line work or heavy and bold abstract style. These art pieces were influenced by the life drawing sessions I did over two years.
Over the past three-years I have worked at a local gallery working with both children and adults aged 5-80 years old. This work was carried out at my local art gallery in Worksop alongside a experienced artist who was local to the area. At the gallery I would help stock supplies, set up workshops in advance, and help students with any artistic problems they may have had. I clocked over two hundred hours of work experience while there and felt this was a massive part of my progress and a great chance to have a first hand look at one of the most important roles in the art industry. I also worked with fellow students on a commission, which had come from, the Worksop Bus station community build. For this commission we were instructed to make Window vinyl's that would help the building meet curtail health and safety standards. The designs used in this process had been developed over several months using a strict design brief and was later on lay red to the glass and polished. To add to this I was later on picked, out of 15 plus students, to make a art piece that would hang in the centre for the public too look at as they walked past.
Also with the experience and the client’s thanks I was paid £50 upfront for the work. This was of course a massive bonus along side gaining valuable experience.

To do (at college ):
*Finish personal statement (adding at least 800 letters.Spell check and word count it,let someone else look at it.

Maths:
Use maths revision book and look at what I haven't ticked as understood

Work ideas:
*1draw out a suitable picture (naked lady or plant)
1.5 cut out a border or frame to roller over to see if it looks better
2do a roller paint picture with paper and painter roller then when dry drAw over in black to look like a scroll.
Use dull colours (even black and then use white paint to make the drawing stand out
3Later on record these

*cottage sketches or observations looking at country side or romantic scenery(go full blown pre raphelite style) maybe look at Castleton for inspiration. Record this (use pencil and black and while style maybe with sharpie )

*look at sketchs done in little quick books and adapt them (specially square one with two ladies)

*also look into female warriors and bodica warrior and her back history. Do sketch maybe using fine liner.maybe pull her and the roller painting idea together

*If time permits look at the karma sutra illustrations and sexual nature of the book. Look at the women and generally look into goddess that are popular(put down what they are popular for )

*continue drawing and looking into Lilith and maybe use ink as it looked good and worked well(specially  with light colours )
